Campus Housing Application Procedures

To be eligible to apply for housing at Valdosta State University, an applicant must be accepted as a student in a University recognized program. Prospective students should first apply with the Valdosta State University Office of Admissions. After students are admitted, student are free to apply online using this link VSU SIS Homepage and clicking on “Student & Financial Aid” and they should see the “Apply For Housing” link below the “View Housing Information” link.

All students desiring on-campus housing are required to sign a residence hall or apartment contract (depending on their freshman or transfer status) for the entire contract term (9 or 12 months) or the remaining portion thereof. The application and contract must be submitted with a $25.00 non-refundable application fee and a $300.00 deposit.

Returning students may participate in the room selection process in the spring as long as all fees are paid by the appropriate deadlines. New students will be assigned based on the date their application is received as long as all fees are paid by the appropriate deadlines.

Students desiring each other as roommates should make sure that they list each other as their roommate preference on their housing application. The deadline for all roommate and hall preferences for the fall semester is April 1st.

Students desiring to cancel their housing contract need to complete the Valdosta State University Request for Release from Contract. These forms are available from the Office of Housing and Residence Life and online. The contract is also canceled if a student does not pay the appropriate fees by the deadline established in the student's contract for housing.
