Converse Hall Apartments
Converse Hall is the only apartment style residence hall on main campus. Reserved primarily for juniors, seniors, and graduate students, Converse offers a great place for those students who are looking for a quiet, convenient, and safe environment to complete their time here at VSU. For the students’ benefit, Converse Hall is a 24-hour quiet hall, allowing for the development of respectful community living. There are 2 RAs in the building to help maintain a great community. The building is divided into two separate sections connected by a breezeway. The southern building is a three-story structure while the northern building is two stories. Converse offers two varieties of room options, efficiencies and one bedroom units.
Converse Hall is perhaps the most important structure in the History of Valdosta State University since it was the building in which the foundation of this institution was laid. It was a dormitory, the Infirmary, classrooms, administration offices, dining hall, a chapel, and a social center. Converse Hall housed everything for the College until West Hall was built in 1918.
Training school was also held in Converse Hall until 1933. This hallmark of Valdosta State University was, however, not very fortunate when a fire broke out on April 14th, 1978, immeasurably damaging the structure. Its replacement was completed in 1981.
