Housing Deposit Facts:

  • The $300 deposit is a rolling deposit for the time of your stay in Housing, thus if you renew a contract for the following year, the deposit rolls to the new year.

  • You do not need to apply to receive your deposit back, once you do not renew your contract, it is automatically processed a month after you check-out of your residence hall.
  • In order to qualify to receive your full $300 back, you must have no damages to your room as well as not owe any other charges (parking tickets, library fines, etc.) to VSU, not just the Housing and Residence Life department.

  • Housing and Residence Life will not take your application fee and deposit unless you are guaranteed a space for the semester to which you are applying. There is no fee to be on the waitlist.

  • Your deposit and application fee must be paid within 24 hours after you are called off the waitlist or your space will be given to the next person on the list.

  • The deposit is pro-rated for withdraw prior to occupancy based on the date of withdraw. Please see the contract for the exact date.

  • Upper-class students may choose to buy-out the remainder of their contract but the deposit is lost in that buy-out.
