Laboratory

The laboratory in the Farber Health Center offers a variety of screening and diagnostic procedures. Procedures range from simple to complex. Some of the simple procedures performed are the Rapid Strep Test for strep throat, pregnancy test, test for mononucleosis, and blood sugar levels. More complex procedures performed include Complete Blood Counts which help to distinguish between viral and bacterial infections, anemia, and many other illnesses. Urinalysis helps rule out urinary tract infections and other kidney disorders.

The Farber Health Center Laboratory is CLIA approved as is required by the federal government and is routinely inspected. For quality assurance, proficiency testing is done throughout the year.

The cost of all lab tests and procedures done within Farber Health Center is included in the Student Health fee paid at registration. Nominal costs will be incurred for lab tests that must be sent to outside labs. This fee can be paid by students using their flex account or paid at the bursary.
