Student Organizations Catering Guidelines

VSU Catering strives to accommodate VSU Student Organizations with competitive pricing on prepared food items, wholesale pricing on raw foods, information on health codes, safe handling of foods, & outstanding customer service. To meet these goals the following guidelines have been implemented:
  • VSU Catering is the sole caterer for the University Center. Food donated, from an established eatery, with a health permit, or donated commercially packaged products will be allowed. Documentation from the donating party must be turned in to the Catering Office. Foods for public consumption CANNOT be prepared in private kitchens.

  • Student Organizations booking Events in the University Union may bring in commercially packaged foods, or foods prepared by established eateries (ex. Dominoes, Locos, Moes, etc.). Clean up of areas, when Catering is not handling the Event, will be the responsibility of the booking organization.

  • Groups reserving rooms in the University Center cannot bring in foods, coffee pots, drinks into dining or meeting rooms. All other areas on campus will be decided on a case by case basis.

  • $20.00 delivery/set up fee will be charged per delivery, does not apply to Events held in University Center. Events, attended by VSU Catering, exceeding two (2) hours will be billed additional charges to defray labor costs.

  • Events held on Saturday and/or Sunday, Events exceeding two (2) hours, Events that do not begin at scheduled time causing employees to work one (1) hour or longer past their assigned work schedule, and deliveries to upper floors of buildings with no elevators will incur additional charges to cover overtime labor costs and/or additional delivery employees. Deliveries on Saturday and/or Sunday before 7:00 AM or after 5:00 PM will incur a $75.00 surcharge.

  • Please speak with our Catering Secretary regarding additional menu items. Let us know if your prefer food items not found on our menus, ex. Quesadillas, Vegetarian items, Pastas, etc., & we will prepare these items or find a brand name frozen products you prefer.
VSU Catering understands Student organizations have limited budgets & will do our utmost to give you quality service & foods at competitive prices. Table linen and skirting is included with Buffet and Table Service. Food tables, ONLY, will have linen for Receptions and A La Carte orders. Customers may request additional linen at $4.00 per cloth; add skirting, on food and drink tables, for an additional $10.00 per table. Catering will discuss each request with booking host & will strive to honor all requests. The Catering secretary will assist you in avoiding additional charges.
